What is the program’s mission?

The mission of the Rise & Shine Food Co-Op is to support local families and strengthen the communities we serve by increasing food and economic security and promoting social responsibility.

Family Strengthening Initiative:

National City Family Nights - Alternating between Family Fun Nights and Family Educational Opportunities, we will strive to provide top-notch family programming in a safe and comfortable setting. Some of the events we have planned include: Financial Literacy night (presented by National City Bank), Family Reading Night (presented by the PBC Literacy Coalition), and a Health Fair with Blood Pressure and Cholesterol Screenings (presented by the Boca Raton Community Hospital Foundation).

Family Advisory Committee - Parents and relatives of Club members are invited to be a part of the team that makes it all happen! Committee members will work with the Club Director and the Family Services Core Area Director to reach out to other Club families and plan exciting programs and special events!

Family Resource Center - A wealth of community resources, all in one place... And right at your fingertips! Stop by and visit our Family Resource Center, stocked with up-to-date brochures and flyers advertising free or low-cost family support services provided locally. Also, take advantage of our “Coupon Bank” to find discounts on household items and nutritious foods— and share your unneeded coupons with others who may be able to use them.

Father Support Group - Finally, a place where dads can come together to share their experiences, frustrations, troubles, and solutions with people who can relate! Members of the group will also help plan and coordinate special events to promote father involvement in the Club (anyone up for a Superbowl Party, Boys & Girls Clubs-style?!), and will be invited to serve as mentors to Club members living in fatherless homes.

Job Bank - Yes, that’s right... We’re offering FREE individual workshops on resume-writing and interview skills, AND helping you get your resume out there! Schedule your appointment today!

Community ACCESS (food stamp application/renewal) - Tired of waiting in long lines and dealing with red tape? We can help! Our Family Liaisons are trained Community ACCESS partners, and can help you complete your Food Stamp application or renewal in the Club— at times that are convenient for you!

Links to Literacy - In collaboration with the Palm Beach County Literacy Coalition, we are able to offer year-round reading and writing tutoring, as well as ESOL classes, to parents of members enrolled in our programs.
