National Guard Drug Awareness Program - At the Boca Raton Boys & Girls Club Sgt. Daniel Willover Gives members of all ages a powerful lesson on the harmful effects of drugs.  Photos

Treasure the Children - Treasure The Children is a diverse group of young people who travel around South Florida educating various groups about living with HIV/AIDS. The discussions shed new light on the disease educating and doing away with common myths concerning HIV/AIDS. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County are fortunate to have partnered with Treasure The Children. This special group travels to all of our clubs in the county so that our kids will become more knowledgeable about the disease.  History

AmberWatch “Be Safe” program - The Boys and Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County have partnered with the AmberWatch Foundation. “Be Safe” is a child abduction and molestation prevention program. This program is an interactive discussion between health instructors and members ages 6-8.

National Disability Month - The West Palm Beach Club lends a hand in recognition of National Disability Month.  Health Instructor Steve Cornette led interactive discussions about various mental and physical handicaps with members in the month of October.  The Club presented a special “Lending a Hand Banners” at the completion of the month.

 

Jupiter Medical/Juvenile Diabetes Education - Diabetes Educators, Siobhan McRostie Gross and Yolanda Torres from Jupiter Medical Center gave an interactive PowerPoint presentation on juvenile diabetes to the West Palm Beach Club members.

Kids in the Kitchen -

SMART Moves - S.M.A.R.T stands for Skills Mastery and Resistance Training. This is a nationally acclaimed comprehensive prevention program that helps young people resist alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use, as well as premature sexual activity. SMART Moves features engaging, interactive, small group activities that increase participants, peer support, enhance their life skills, build their resiliency, and strengthen their leadership skills. The programs components are: SMART kids, for ages 6-9; Start SMART for ages 10-12, Stay SMART ages 13-15, and SMART parents.

Cavity-Free Zone - This program focuses on the importance of good oral hygiene. Cavity-Free Zone program materials feature fun, engaging sessions and activities for club members ages 6-9, 10-12 and 13-15. Crest sponsors the Cavity-Free Zone program.

Youth Health Corps - The Youth Health Corps members have taken leadership roles at their clubs. The Health Corps passes on their knowledge of health related topics to younger members by conducting programs themselves. The Youth Health Corps are involved in the community by becoming involved in health fairs and outreach programs.  Photos

SMART Leaders - SMART leaders is a booster program to SMART moves. This program keeps teens involved in SMART Moves programs after stay SMART, reinforces skills and knowledge, youth learned and SMART Moves, and prepares teens as leaders to help their peers resist using alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, and postpone sexual activity.

F.A.N. Club - FAN Club stands for Family Advocacy Network. This program is designed for empowering parents, strengthening families, and prevents youth from using alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, and engaging in early sexual activity. It should be offered to parents of youth participating in the SMART Moves program.

SMART Girls - SMART Girls is a small group health fitness prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement program designed to meet the developmental needs of girls ages 8-12 and 13-17 through dynamic session, highly participatory activities, field trips, and mentoring opportunities with adult women, club girls explore their own societal attitudes and values as they build skills for eating right, staying physically fit, getting good health care, and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.

Passport to Manhood - Passport to Manhood promotes and teaches responsibility in club boys ages 11-14. Passport to Manhood consists of 14 sessions, each of which concentrates on a specific aspect of manhood through highly interactive activities. Each club participant receives his own passport to underscore the notion that he is on a personal journey of maturation and growth.

Date Smart - Date Smart is a supplement to Smart girls and Passport to Manhood, and an exciting new resource for club members ages 13-18. Through fun and easy to use session, members learn to achieve mutually supportive relationships free of violence and abuse. The program also encourages youth to become community advocates for relationships that promote equality and respect while combating the attitudes and behavior that lead to dating, sexual, and domestic violence.

Triple Play/Healthy Habits - empowering youth to eat right is a generation changing, life enhancing program goal, an Triple Play’s nutrition component, called Healthy Habits, covers the power of choice, calories, vitamins and minerals, the food pyramid, and appropriate portion size.  Healthy Snack Bar Initiative

Pre/post tests - Pre and post-tests will be administered to keep track of the progress of each youth in the programs.
