The Wanderers Golf Club - October 6, 2012
The 31st Annual Wellington Golf Classic benefiting the new Neil S. Hirsch Family Boys & Girls Club of Wellington hit a hole in one!! The 2012 tournament raised more than $10,000 for the Wellington Club and was held at the prestigious Wanderers Club in Wellington.. Once referred to as the runt of the Palm Beach County Boys & Girls Clubs, the 7,000 square foot Club in Wellington, will soon change as the organization is under construction for a new 22,500 square foot facility. The new clubhouse, which will be named the Neil S. Hirsch Family Boys & Girls Club, will be located at 1080 Wellington Trace; will replace the existing facility at 3401 South Shore Blvd.
The new facility has been an on-going dream since 2005 when the organization first started a capital campaign to replace the small and outdated facility with a state-of-the art clubhouse. Over the years, the current Club, which serves children from six to 18 years of age, has had to turn away hundreds of children due to the limited size of the facility.
Co-chairmen of the 2012 tournament were Ed Portman, Pat Evans & Woody White. Thanks to the generosity of our dedicated supporters, the event has raised more than $500,000 for the children of our community throughout the past years.
The date for the 2013 tournament will be announced in late spring. For more information on sponsorship or joining the committee please contact Kevin Murray kmurray@bgcpbc.org or call (561) 683-3287.
